Menu names are those of the app in English; in the Portuguese version, they appear in Portuguese. If this translation and the Portuguese version differ, the Portuguese version prevails.
Summary
Disco Draws has no accounts, ads or tracking, uses no third-party analytics tools, and does not sell or share data for advertising. Almost everything stays on the device. Only these leave it, and only for what is described here: the text of Ask Disco (AI drawing) requests, after a grown-up turns the feature on; the number of purchases made on the App Store or Google Play; a random device number that counts Disco drawings; and, only if a grown-up agrees, anonymous usage statistics.
Data controller: Daniel Chou, in Brazil. Contact, including for data subject rights: contato@discodraws.com.
What stays on the device
- Child profiles: the typed name or nickname, the chosen animal and the age.
- Progress: discovered drawings, stars, badges and created discs.
- Drawings and photos saved to the fridge, and discs made from photos.
This data stays only on the device and in the user's own backup, if enabled: iCloud on iPhone and iPad, Google backup on Android (there, fridge drawings only go along when transferring to a new device). We have no access to it.
Camera and photos
The camera is used in the "On paper" modes, for drawing and writing, to show the disc or the writing lines over the sheet and to check the pencil strokes, and in the Studio's "Use photo", to turn a photo of a drawing into a disc. All of this happens on the device: the camera image is never sent. A photo is saved, on the device only, when someone taps to save it (for example, "Take photo") or makes a disc from it. Photos picked from the library come through the system photo picker (on iPhone or iPad), which hands over only the chosen photo.
Ask Disco (AI-made drawings)
A grown-up turns the feature on once, after the grown-up check, and can turn it off at any time in the Parents area, Learn tab. With it on, the child types or picks an idea ("a cat with glasses") and gets a line drawing that becomes a disc. In the United States, children under 13 only pick from the app's ideas (see below).
- What is sent: the request text, the age band used for the drawing and the child's age band (3 to 5, 6 to 8, 9 to 12, or 13 and older), with the device's random number. Also sent: the app language (Portuguese or English), for the drawing's title, and how the request was made: with one of the app's ideas (and which one), typed, or typed by a grown-up after the grown-up check. No name, photo, exact age or other information about the child goes with it.
- Personal data: before sending, the app refuses requests with inappropriate words or with personal data such as names, addresses, schools and contact details (phone numbers, e-mails or social media), in Portuguese and in English. The server checks again, with the same rules, before sending the request to OpenAI.
- To whom: the Disco Draws server (on Cloudflare) and, from it, OpenAI (in the United States), which checks the request and makes the drawing. OpenAI receives only the text and the drawing instructions: no device identifier, not even scrambled. Requests are sent with storage turned off; under OpenAI's policy, data sent through the API may be kept for up to 30 days to fight abuse and is not used to train models.
- In the United States: children under 13 make requests only through the app's ideas, and the server builds the request from the chosen idea. Typing a request is for a grown-up, after the grown-up check, or for kids 13 and older. To apply this rule, the server uses the country of the request, which Cloudflare infers from the IP address. The server does not keep the country, and the IP is not kept for this. On the device, the app keeps only a note that requests come from the United States. On iPhone and iPad, the app may also ask the system for the Apple Account's age range: the answer, when shared, stays on the device and can only restrict requests to the ideas.
- What we keep: the drawing count for each random number. We do not keep the request text, the drawings or the country.
- Safety: at every age, Disco refuses weapons (toy and pretend ones too), fights, scary things, blood, death, adult content, drugs, bad words, brands and famous people, and every drawing goes through a filter before it appears. The age only changes the drawing style, from simple lines for the little ones to illustrations for older kids.
Purchases (Full Plan and Disco drawing packs)
Purchases sit behind the grown-up check and go through the App Store (iPhone and iPad) or Google Play (Android): payment, card and account details stay with Apple or Google, and we have no access to them.
- What is sent: the purchase number (the App Store transaction or the Google Play purchase token) and the device's random number, so we can check the purchase directly with Apple or Google and unlock the month's or the pack's Disco drawings. The random number also goes with the purchase, so the store can tell which device it belongs to. Once a day, the subscription is checked again with the store.
- Cancelling: on iPhone and iPad, the subscription renews automatically until cancelled in Settings › your name › Subscriptions, at least 24 hours before the end of the period. On Android, it renews automatically until cancelled in the Google Play app › Payments and subscriptions › Subscriptions, at any time before renewal.
Usage statistics (anonymous, only with a grown-up's choice)
To improve the app, Disco Draws can count how it is used. The question appears during setup with nothing pre-selected: with no answer, it stays off. It can be changed at any time in Parents area › Device.
- What is counted: which screens, sheets and tools are opened and for how long; how long the app and its screens take to open; where each screen is tapped, on a 20 by 40 grid (never the drawing), with the name of the tapped button and, on tablets, whether it was in portrait or landscape; the setup and purchase steps; and app errors, with numbers, text and addresses removed from the message. To count devices without identifying them, the device itself only marks whether it is the first time that day, week, month or since installation, and the week it was installed.
- What goes with it: only the platform (iPhone, iPad, Android, Android tablet or browser), the app version, the age band (3 to 5, 6 to 8, 9 to 12, or 13 and older), the plan (free, trial or paid) and the number of children (1, 2, or 3 or more).
- What never goes: the name, photos, drawings, what the child writes or asks Disco for, the exact age, the device's random number or any identifier.
- What we keep: daily totals only. The server keeps no per-device events and no IP address, and the totals cannot tell anyone apart.
- No other companies: the measurement is done by Disco Draws itself, with no third-party analytics tools. The totals stay on our server, on Cloudflare, and only the Disco Draws team sees them.
Regardless of this choice, the server counts per day, without identifiers, what it does itself: purchases and subscriptions verified with Apple and Google Play (free trials, renewals, cancellations and refunds, with the price the store reports) and the outcome of Ask Disco requests (delivered or refused, cost and time), by age band and plan.
IP address
As with any internet request, the server receives the device's IP address. It is used only to limit abuse (of the free drawings and of the statistics upload) and, for Ask Disco, to know the country of the request. For the free drawings, it is kept scrambled (it cannot be turned back into the address) for up to 2 days; for the statistics, it is not kept. Cloudflare infers the country from the IP, and the server uses it only to apply the United States rule (see Ask Disco), without keeping the country or the IP for this.
How long we keep data
- The drawing count for each device: up to 400 days after last use.
- The verified subscription: up to 7 days after it ends; its device list, up to 30 days.
- Pack purchase numbers already counted: 3 years, so the same purchase is never counted twice.
- The scrambled IP: 2 days. Server logs hold no identifiers and no request text.
- Daily statistics and dashboard totals: up to 2 years; the count of devices with the app open each minute: 2 days.
- E-mails you send us: as long as needed to answer and follow up on your request.
This website and e-mail
This website uses no cookies, ads or analytics tools, and has no forms. It is hosted on Cloudflare, which receives visitors' IP addresses to deliver the pages and protect the site from attacks, under its own privacy policy. If you close the language notice, the site remembers that choice only in your browser.
When you write to contato@discodraws.com, we use your message and e-mail address only to reply. Our mailbox is hosted by Hostinger.
Your rights and deleting data
- On the device: to delete a profile, use "Delete this profile" in the Parents area, Child tab. To delete everything, delete the app.
- Withdrawing consent: turn off Ask Disco in the Parents area (Learn tab), or the usage statistics (Device tab). Nothing more is sent. Totals already added up are anonymous: they cannot be linked to the device, not even by us.
- On our server: to access, correct or delete the data linked to the device number, write to contato@discodraws.com with the code shown in Parents area › Device › About and privacy. We reply within 15 days.
- Complaints: you can also contact Brazil's data protection authority (ANPD) or the authority where you live.
Children
The app is made for children and follows Brazil's General Data Protection Law (LGPD, art. 14) and Digital Statute of Children and Adolescents (ECA Digital), the U.S. COPPA, the App Store Kids Category rules and the Google Play Families policy. We collect no personal data from children beyond what is described above, build no advertising profiles and sell no loot boxes. Ask Disco and the usage statistics start off and work only with a grown-up's choice, purchases and sharing sit behind the grown-up check, and the Parents area can turn off Ask Disco and the statistics and block purchases. In the United States, children under 13 make Ask Disco requests only through the app's ideas.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page, with its date. Questions and requests: contato@discodraws.com.
